A Getaway /a Birthday surprise /a Puke party @Tofino!

Tofino is a small district on Vancouver Island, off Canada’s west coast. It sprawls on a peninsula within Clayoquot Sound, characterized by wild natural scenery including lakes, inlets and ancient rainforest. Sandy beaches with year-round surfing facilities include Cox Bay, Chesterman Beach and popular Long Beach, part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The relaxed town of Tofino sits on the peninsula’s tip. (Google source)

In case you’re wondering what that title was, please, follow us through the pictures. They will tell you about our family’s very interesting 3 days getaway in Tofino, enjoy!

On our way, we stopped at Cathedral Grove MacMillan Provincial Park, where you can admire majestic old trees.

Now, the best and craziest part was that we saw 4 grey whales!! But we were too busy puking… so we ended up not taking pictures. In our family, we have FUN together, we STICK together and we PUKE together!! 😉

Kidnapped by Aliens!

Dear Diary

“I think, last week, I was kidnapped by aliens. ”

OK, my friends, that’s certainly what I would write in my diary to explain my unusual experience from Friday to Monday.

I had again a serious health problem on the night of Friday. My husband played “again” the ambulance to take me to the emergency at Victoria General Hospital. The diagnosis was: a surgery!

You should know that among my history of visited hospitals (Belgium, Africa, Edmonton) this was such a special experience that I thought I was in an alien hospital. Judge for yourself:

  • I was immediately admitted as soon as they understood my problem (in previous experience: I will still be waiting for 4-5 hours in pain …)
  • Nurses took turn to make sure I did not need anything (in previous experience: only one will showed up and disappeared for at least 2 hours …)
  • The doctor doing the surgery visited me 3 times to explain either the surgery process or to check on me, (previous experience: I will see the doctor only once, often with no clear explanation or nothing at all and you leave the hospital without ever remembering his face…)
  • There were more serious cases than me, but we had all their attention (previous experience: if you’re not a priority, you’re left behind in pain …)
  • Medical staff calls you “darling, sweaty, honey, my dear, beauty …”, very attentive and full of humanity. Do you think this is an exaggeration? (Let me tell you that elsewhere, my color was often an obstacle to treat me well …)

I spent 4 days in Victoria General Hospital (VGH) with the feeling of being in a 7-star hotel or with aliens or in heaven … No, I haven’t been kidnapped by Aliens, I was on the earth with real dedicated, conscientious, special Humans… and I am very grateful to God for the medical staff of VGH, YOU ROCKED!!

By the way, today I feel much better, thanks God! 🙂

China Beach Adventure !!

No we haven’t been to China ….. YET lol

My parents in-laws (Opa and Oma for our kids), are visiting us from Belgium. Among many places we visited with them, China Beach in Sooke (Vancouver Island) was their favorite place! I definitely agreed with them. If you’re not like me, dead scare to meet black bears, you will enjoy this wonderful, peaceful beach. Here are some of my favorite pictures of our day adventure. Enjoy!!

Two Weeks in VI !!

One day, as we were walking around, my husband told me that he really likes the Island landscape. He sees it as a perfect mixture between African landscape and Europe one. That was a sweet melody to my ears. I still like our adventure life, but I will love to stay and enjoy Vancouver Island for more than one or two years. My husband favorite place to be is West Africa. So, if he sees a bit of that part of the world here, Alleluia!!

Since we got here, it’s very sunny, dry and warm. The average temperatures, if I’m not wrong, is between 26 and 33 degrees. The past five days, we felt like being back in Burkina Faso, in May-June,  even if we don’t reach 45-50°C  and that we have continuous power and a lake “next door” to dive in to cool down!

And today, the cool, wet and nice sound shows up: THE RAIN!!!   After days without rain, I hope someone agreed with me that it was about time for some green yards,

a cool weather and a clean car lol!

Anyways, I love the rain. When I heard it sound this morning around 7 am, I opened our garage door, took my quiet time books, to enjoy this delicious touch from God! The result: this “rain” inspired share !!

Our ePiC a D v E n T u R e !!

That’s it, we moved to British Columbia (Western Canada), more precisely to Vancouver Island and we now live in Shawnigan Lake! Since Sunday, July 27, we are settling in while enjoying the beautiful summer on the Island.

For the record, this is our 10th move and it was the most relaxed and easy we ever had! Because, we didn’t have to pack anything ourselves (no fatigue), so we decided to make the trip with our car from Edmonton to Shawnigan Lake through the mountains!

Here are some pictures of our beautiful, amazing, indescribable and unforgettable adventure, blessed by the Lord.

Thanks to all of you who have prayed for and thought of us!
